Congratulations to CRCL Senior CS major Simone Smarr will be pursuing a PhD in the Human centered Computing program at University of Florida and will be attending in the fall. Simone has also been awarded the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship.
Congratulations to CRCL Sophomore CS major Takeria Blunt on her acceptance into Boeing this summer as a systems design and integration specialist.
Congratulations to CRCL Senior CS major on his graduate pursuits this fall. Daniel will be attending UCLA where he will go on to earn his PhD in Bioinformatics.
Congratulations to Daniel Johnson on his acceptance into the UCLA Bruins in Genomics summer program! The Bruins-In-Genomics (B.I.G.) Summer is an intensive, practical experience in genomics and bioinformatics for students who are interested in integrating quantitative and biological knowledge, and pursuing graduate degrees in the biological, biomedical or health sciences.
Congratulations to CRCL junior CS major Rashaud Savage on his acceptance this summer into the UNCC socially relevant REU program. Rashaud will be working with the researching lab on wireless network and sensors.
Dr. Kinnis Gosha and Dr. Brandies Marshall have been awarded a collaborative grant of $299,257 from the National Science Foundation (Award #1547793). The overall purpose of this grant is to plan and design a dual institution CREST research center in Socially Relevant Computing at Morehouse and Spelman Colleges. The center will provide interdisciplinary education, undergraduate research, and workforce development for African American computer science students. In addition, the center will create an ecosystem of partners to conduct research that leads to technologies that help solve critical societal problems of national priority.
We would like to congratulate junior Psychology major Donte Verrill on his acceptance into the University of Washingtion – Seattle CSNE Summer REU Program. The CSNE at the University of Washington sponsors a 10-week Research Experience for Undergraduates on the Seattle campus during the summer. Here he will have the opportunity to work with Dr. Andrea Stocco in the study of how humans utilize abstract mental representations (i.e. rules, instructions, and blueprints) to perform complex tasks. While there at the CSNE research lab Donte will be using mathematical models, neuroimaging techniques, and brain stimulation methods to determine and predict how mental representations are encoded into the brain. Additionally, to see how these representations are transformed into behavior, and how this information can be used to improve learning and skill acquisition.
Congratulations to CRCL Sophomore CS major Cameron Partee on her acceptance into the Engineering Practicum Intern program with Google. While in the Venice office she will be working with the Search Ads team during the 12-week intern program.
Congratulations to CRCL junior CS major Andrew Garrett. He has accepted an internship with Moody’s Analytics where he will be working in Manhattan New York for this summer.
Congratulations to CRCL junior CS major Jovan Corbitt for his acceptance into the R.E.U. Interfaces and Surfaces at Clemson University. This program only accepts around 10 students each summer where the students engage in an intensive ten week research program. While at Clemson University, Jovan will be working with Dr. Kostya Kornev on the research of “Analyses of viscous properties of insect biofluids using optofluidics.”
