Dr. Nias is computational social science researcher currently developing a data science platform for culturally relevant social media projects implemented in undergraduate computing and interdisciplinary courses. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor in CIS program where she is developing educational technologies that support student learning in big data and computational social sciences.
A May 2016 Bowie State University computer science doctoral program graduate, she previously worked as a visiting lecturer in computer science at The University of Maryland, Eastern Shore while completing her doctoral studies. Her previous academic research experience focused on mobile human-computer interactions with an emphasis on cultural technological influences.
Dr. Nias has also completed research in the field of computer science education, child-computer interactions and mobile technology development for education. She is enthusiastic about expanding research in mobile technology in order to leverage indigenous knowledge systems.
