Jasmine Marie Bouges is a senior Computer Science major at the University of North Georgia. In her time there, she has been awarded six campus awards including the Computer Science Excellence Award, Paul M. Hutcherson Outstanding Student Award and Honors Civic Award. Bouges enjoys fostering supportive, inclusive communities and uplifting fellow students. She has served as President of the campus Women in STEM club, Secretary for the Mike Cottrell Scholars, and is a member of the Black Student Union and Honors Program.

Bouges has presented her proposed undergraduate thesis work titled “The Hurdles of Overcoming Racial and Gender Bias in Machine Learning and Facial Recognition Algorithms” at the 2019 National Conference on Undergraduate Research and 2019 Southern Regional Honors Conference, where her hand-drawn name badge won Most Creative. She hopes to analyze facial recognition rates and methods to maximize accuracy for distinct groups and create the first open source facial recognition database with the faces of Black individuals. She plans to defend her thesis in Spring of 2020.

This summer, Bouges put her interpersonal and analytical skills to use as an Enterprise Architecture intern at COUNTRY Financial. In her free time, Bouges enjoys making puns, thrifting and going to concerts.
