Tiffanie R. Smith is a Ph.D. candidate in the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Department at the University of Florida. Tiffanie received her B.S. in computer engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. Her research interests include culturally relevant educational technologies, broadening minority participation in STEM and gestural interaction. While at UF, she has received two nationally prestigious fellowship awards; the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship and the Ford Foundation 2018 Dissertation Fellowship. In the fall, Tiffanie will begin her position as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Lincoln University, a historically Black university (HBCU) in PA. Tiffanie is passionate about diversifying the fields of STEM by introducing computer science and engineering concepts to young students of color with the hopes of them pursuing STEM at the collegiate level and beyond.
